Chrysalis Music Workshop: Duo Registration

The Chrysalis Duo Experience — full registration for both duo members, Thursday through Sunday

Four days of immersive music-making designed for established partnerships. Your duo registration brings both performers into every session, performance, and gathering at a reduced rate — with the full workshop experience reframed around the ensemble you've already built.

Thursday begins with afternoon arrival and check-in, followed by introductions and a welcome reception. The day closes with a full ensemble playthrough — your first taste of the sound you'll be building together over the next four days, now joined by the larger community of harpists, flutists, and composers gathered for the weekend.

Friday moves into the heart of the workshop: morning warm-ups, masterclasses, and ensemble work that places your duo inside larger configurations. Afternoons bring coachings tailored to your partnership, individual lessons, and composition read-throughs of new works — some of which may be written with duos like yours in mind. The evening opens up for an open mic night, an ideal low-stakes setting to try repertoire you've been developing.

Saturday deepens the work with morning masterclasses and ensemble rehearsals, then turns to workshops, panel discussions, and coachings on the practical realities of life as a working duo — repertoire building, programming, marketing, and the business of staying together over the long haul. The day culminates in SPARX in concert — a featured performance by Anne Sullivan and Joan Marsh, themselves a working flute-and-harp duo with decades of shared stages.

Sunday brings the weekend to its peak: morning warm-ups and final rehearsals lead into participant ensemble performances, where the music you've built together comes to life. We close at noon with a strategy session and farewell, sending you and your partner home with a shared plan, not just shared memories.

What makes Chrysalis different for duos:

  • Coachings designed around your partnership rather than generic ensemble work
  • Faculty mentorship from working duos who have navigated the artistic and logistical realities you face
  • Business and collaboration sessions addressing the specific challenges of building a sustainable career as a two-person ensemble
  • Composers in the room writing for and with you across all four days — a rare chance to expand your repertoire with works shaped to your sound
  • Cross-instrument masterclasses that pull both of you out of familiar habits and into fresh musical thinking together

Duo registration includes full participation for both performers — all sessions, masterclasses, coachings, lunches, the welcome reception, the SPARX concert, and participant performance opportunities. Schedule subject to refinement as the workshop approaches.
NOTE: Only one of you need register.
