These collections of single-movement pieces for flute and harp by composer Louis Anthony deLise were written as part of the New Miniatures Project, a joint venture of flutist Joan Marsh Sparks, harpist Anne Sullivan, ALRY Publications, and the composer. The aim of the project was to create short pieces of the highest musical standard that would suit the tastes and abilities of intermediate flute and harp players of all ages.
Each volume contains three pieces for flute and harp (Celebrations! contains four pieces), and the harp parts are edited for lever and for pedal harp.
The compositions are typical of deLise’s composing style that often features the juxtaposition of disparate musical elements like traditional counterpoint, frequently changing meters, the urgency and drive of rock and roll, and the lush harmonies of 1960’s West Coast Jazz. Audio tracks of each piece can be heard on ALRY's website; just click on the button below each collection.
